Injustice II

Why should it be that a Large and Hideous cockroach, filled with all the scuttling and squalid vivacity of its wretched life, is making its way across my ceiling, while the dear cat I loved for fifteen years is dead?

Now that really is an injustice. I am sorry Minnie is gone. We will miss her. She was a good cat.

I really do wonder about God sometimes. How can a good god create a cockroach? There must be a purpose that only a cockroach can fulfill. It’s a mystery – another one in a long string of mysteries. But we still believe, we still trust. Minnie showed you things about God in her 15 years – either directly or through your reflections on her. I think that’s one reason God gives us pets – to show us about Himself. It’s a mystery, really, how that can be.

I am so sorry about the cat- i didn’t read this until this morning and there I saw you at school this week and could have hugged you and shared the grief…because we do grieve these creatures who come into our homes for a time and teach us many things about truth and beauty and goodness. We miss their furry faces and their orneriness when they are gone. And we never forget them. They impress us for a life time. THinking of you.RD

I was so sorry to hear about your beloved Minnie! There’s nothing one can really say to make one feel better or ease one’s grief after the loss of a furry family member, so here’s a big ethernet hug instead.
