Photo Album

So Bill created a space on-line where all twenty of us who went on the trip to Kenya together could post our photos.

This was a great idea. I mean, we were all together most of the time, and so we should all have about the same photos, one would think. But all of us have experienced the disappointment of Not Capturing the image we’d hoped for, and all of us have been delighted when we got a better shot than we thought we might.

Besides, we had a professional photographer on our trip, and we all want a grab at his pics (which are, as might be expected, fabulous).

And there were times when we missed photos, or weren’t in the right place at the right time, or didn’t have our cameras.

So Bill created a site called “JaceyKhouKittyJana,” named for four of the women on our trip. Bill thought this combo sounded a little Swahili, and indeed it does.

Tonight, for the first time, really, I took a Long Look.

Now I am more glad than ever that Bill created this site. Through it I am reliving what we experienced just a few weeks ago. It is so good to see Kilimanjaro from the same prospect from which I saw it before, to see the same faces of the people we love at Beacon, to remember the angle of the light our last evening on safari.

But more than that, seeing the photos connects me again with these friends from the team, because now I am catching a glimpse of the way things were through their eyes. I freely admit that this makes me miss them– and Kenya– more than ever.

Go see.

Jacey, Khou and I spent HOURS going through all the pictures on Saturday evening, so I understand how you feel.
