What you can do, see, is to visit this giraffe reserve. It isn’t terribly far from Ongata Rongai, the town in which Beacon of Hope is situated. On our last day at Beacon, we stopped by here.
You can feed the giraffes. The food is free: little pellets you hold in your hand. The giraffes come right over to the deck, and you hold out the food to them in your hand. And then, with purple and prehensile tongue, a giraffe takes it.
Or, if you’d like (and if you are brave like our friend Jacey), you can hold the food between your lips.
The giraffes will take it, either way. They aren’t picky.
