Bliss

The curtain of sleep parts ever so slightly and lets in a little light.

“Oh,” you think, “It is time to get up!” you think. “One more day and then the three-day weekend.”

Then a little more light, just a fraction more, and with it, realization: “No, today is Saturday, and this is the three-day weekend, and school is over, and there remain only three teacher work days, and then the summer really and truly begins.”

And the curtain falls again, the light fades, and you go back to sleep.

That is bliss. Do you know what else is bliss? Sleeping as long as you’d like on a Sunday afternoon even though your garden <>desperately needs weeding<>.

And then you wake up for the hundreth time on what seems like the hundreth day later and you realize that school won’t begin for another two months. On the other hand you could be so busy, that you don’t have the luxury to stretch in bed and revel in life. Either way, summer is much more enjoyable in the first three or four weeks of it, in my opinion.
