Weekend, Part 2

Later in the afternoon, it’s a good idea to work in a visit to Duke Gardens, where we’ve taken our children countless times but where Gwen, until Saturday, had never been.

While there, it’s best
to spend time in the Best Climbing Tree in the World
and the Mommies discover that the highest branches are the best place to continue our conversation uninterrupted….
After a stop at McDonald’s for ice cream, you should definitely work in William’s baseball game, as he is pitching….

And then come home to create personalized stepping stones for the Stevenson garden. Now we have souvenirs of their visit….
Meanwhile, Scott will get some fruit and veggies ready to go along with the pizza that the children will have for dinner so that the grown-ups (Just The Grown-ups) can go out to eat and talk and talk and talk uninterrupted.
While you are eating dinner, you’ll talk about living in China and going to Africa and some of the stuff we’ve been through in the past few years. And at some random point Bill will ask just where we all hope to end up, because our chances of living near one another seem to be growing more and more unlikely….
And we’d really like to have a go at being neighbors.

I love reading your blog, and I love reading her blog, but I REALLY love seeing them IN your blog 🙂 What a blessing to have friends such as The Six…

Yes, yes we would. We really would. We came close once, didn’t we? 1993-94, I think it was. We could actually walk to each other’s houses, if we were feeling especially ambitious. But now, not so much. There’s still lots of time, though. Where do you want to end up? Let’s just all pick a place and move there next! After China, that is.

I’m so glad you had such a wonderful visit. We were at that same tree from 11:00-12:45. Your boys introduced Caleb to that tree.
