The Perks of Cleaning Up
On January 5, 2006 | 2 Comments | Uncategorized |

Sometimes, when you organize and clean things out, you find many things to throw away. I love that. I like getting rid of things. I like filling the back of my van with things we don’t use and taking them to the Salvation Army, dropping them off and pulling away feeling lighter in weight and in heart.

But sometimes, when you organize and clean things out, you find things you want to keep. Things like, say, socks or parfait glasses or old love letters from your husband.

Yesterday I cleaned out our kitchen cabinets. Well, not all of them, but most (there aren’t many) (only the ones above the counter), and I discovered, behind about a million Unused Domino’s Pizza plastic cups, these fabulous glasses.

No, they aren’t glasses at all, really. They are (it is?) a Very Funny Drinking Straw, and here you see William enjoying his luncheon milk via said straw.

Aunt Lynne, Uncle Scott and their wacky kids sent William this straw for his birthday last year, and we are delighted to find it again. As you might imagine, Everyone had a turn with it at lunch yesterday, and afterwards I cleaned it by using it to siphon soapy water.

All of this cleaning and organizing has been quite the adventure so far…. Tomorrow I plan to clean out the cabinets Under the counter, one of which recedes into darkness at the rear of the refrigerator. What do you suppose can possibly be in There??? Posted by Picasa

“All of this cleaning and organizing has been quite the adventure so far…. Tomorrow I plan to…” finish reading the book on the table. Yes, the plan. Did you finish? We’re in a book group reading Mere Christianity, then The Screwtape letters, then the The Great Divorce. Ah the entire set of Nrnia would be good….
