I was cleaning the downstairs bathroom just now, and discovered as I did so that I had to clean the toothpaste tube. This is not a task that I need to perform in our bathroom, upstairs, because we don’t mess with our toothpaste tube. But the boys do, apparently. It was smeared with blue, sweet-smelling toothpaste (bubble-gum?) both on the tube and on the attached cap. My wash-rag became quite blue with it all before I was finished.
But I rinsed it, and dried it, and put it in the cup with the boys’ toothbrushes. Everett’s toothbrush handle is shaped like a race car; William’s is Sponge Bob and Patrick. The toothpaste sports drawings of Superman, Batman, and the Flash. It says, “Justice League.”
As I came out of the bathroom, I commented to Bill that we are fortunate, really, to have people in the house who appreciate Batman toothpaste. And he and I agreed, as we do from time to time, that these days we are in, with boys 8 and 6, and a little girl, 4, are Good Days. They may very well, in fact, be The Days.
