The Big Game
On January 31, 2005 | 4 Comments | Uncategorized |

Last Sunday we watched the Steelers in the playoffs. It was a very disappointing game. Only the week before, William and Bill had sat in the stands at Heinz Field and watched the game against the Jets go into overtime. Then the Steelers made a field goal that won it, 20-17. It was thrilling, even on television.

But the 23rd of January did not bring us a better game. In fact, it gave us an awful game. Disappointing and awful.

The children were very excited. The boys wore their Roethlisberger jerseys, Bill and Emma Grace wore Steelers hats, and I looked in vain for our Terrible Towel. We ordered pizza and settled in for the duration.

The rest is history.

Oh, well. There’s always next year.

And in just a week, everyone will be undefeated.

And (another sports clothing slogan) if it weren’t for sports, there’d be NO NEXT YEAR!

Go Steelers (in anticipation)!

Thank you, two rivers, for rooting with me, if only in football….

Well, in terms of football, I cannot root for the Patriots because they beat the Panthers last year in the Superbowl. So, I may as well root for the Steelers until they play the Panthers. And of course I probably would have to root for the Buffalo Bills if they were playing, because of geographical proximity during my formative years (though I never went to a game). So, Go Steelers!

I should have known you’d have a reason and explanation for siding with me. Thanks for relating it here. You are so funny. 🙂
