i don’t think so – i think they’d be nocturnal whether or not we were even here. whatever it is they eat is out at night, that’s most likely why they’re nocturnal.>>why do you ask?
“whatever it is they eat is out at night” and therefore also nocturnal, right?>>I ask because Bill asked last night as we were listening to Something making noise outside. Neither of us commented on the noise. There was a pause, and then he asked that question, and I thought it was Very Funny.>>I mean, who’s to say? They always teach us in biology class that the habits of nocturnal creatures are due to biological reasons. But what if it’s just to avoid US???>>Can’t say as I blame them….
well, i can’t really argue with your logic, except there are probably many nocturnal animals deep in the jungle where there are no people. so i don’t think it’s just an avoidance thing. unless they’re trying to avoid the sun perhaps…
“Are nocturnal creatures only nocturnal because we are not?”>>No, those are called ‘notturnal’ creatures. A slight, albeit significant, spelling difference. Unicorns, gremlins, faeries, nymphs, trolls and such fit this classification. What you heard was most likely your common summernight faerie – a noctunottohumidae creature endemic to the southeast US.
