What Perseverance Sometimes Looks Like
On January 31, 2006 | 1 Comments | Uncategorized |

So I’ve quoted these lyrics before, but it was a long time ago. And that’s what poets are for, anyway: to say what we can’t find words for, and to say it so well.

This barren July
We both wake up so dry
That no more tears can leave us
And all we’ve found
Are roads we can’t go down,
Eyes on a day we can’t see
I hope it comes, I hope that water comes
And drenches us in our clothes.

The world at night
Has seen the greatest light,
Too much light to deny.

-the innocence mission

All I can say is that today I am looking for the rain, and watching for the light, and praying hard for both.

“And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” Romans 5:2-5

Is Perseverance of the Saints the P in Tulip? Anyhow, they will both come. The rain and the light. Really they will.
