Update
On July 18, 2006 | 1 Comments | Uncategorized |

I haven’t posted anything here in awhile. And there are several reasons for this, but I’ll give you only the most practical of them: I’ve been without an internet connection for two weeks.

Yes, I spent the last two weeks with sand in my shoes– and I am definitely bragging (as opposed to complaining)– enjoying many of the wonders that Long Island’s east end has to offer. As ever, I return home with some reluctance.

But we’ve been in town for a little over twenty-four hours now, and I am glad to be home. No, it’s not the humidity (UGH), but it is the Husband, and our little house, and the Husband, and my own bed, and the Husband.

*contented sigh*

No, I didn’t post anything to my blog while I was away, and I wouldn’t really call this a post either, so much as an update. Here goes:

sleep status: definitely Tired.

hair: it wants cutting.

suntan: too much, despite frequent high SPF applications.

children: happy and tired and not really sure what to do with themselves.

husband: contented.

photos: card full; need to download to the computer at next available opportunity.

extended family: all at their homes, with the exception of my lovely mother, who is here with us until Thursday.

unpacking: clothes put away; shoe bag and book bags unemptied.

laundry: caught up.

house: fairly tidy– definitely need to vacuum and dust (ha!). New and snazzy summer throw pillows on the sofa (I do believe I mentioned that my mother is here).

reading: somewhere in part two of Watership Down; page 115 of C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity; third chapter of Kierkegaard’s Fear and Trembling; page 269 of Thomas Mann’s Joseph and His Brothers (and Completely Taken with it, by the by).

curriculum writing: important chunk done, tons more to do. Today acquired (literally) 13 books to read or peruse for that effort.

yardwork: everything overgrown Out Of All Reason, though my mother (did I mention that she’s here?) was out pruning before 7:30 this morning.

brain: Tired.

writing: writing?

blog reading: a sorry state of affairs. I can’t assume that All Of You were also without internet connections over the past two weeks. Or three weeks. Or Month. And yet. And yet. So little for me to read. So Very Little. (Loved the photos, Jenny!). Go Post!!!

manners: Please!
